Decorating Your Home with Handmade Carpets
Persian handmade carpet gives a sense of warmth and splendor to your house or office. Consider the following three elements in decorating your home with handmade carpets: The color, the texture, and the design.
Never spread an antique or silk or delicate carpet with a light background in a hall or dining room or children’s bedroom. The best place for such a carpet is normally the drawing-room, the library, and the bedroom, where there are less wear and tear.
Iranians usually select their carpets based on the size of the room, whereas, Europeans prefer small rugs. Basically, carpet size should be smaller than the size of the room such that it distances out from the walls for at least 40 to 60 centimeters. The dimensions of the carpet for the dining room should be at least 60 to 70 centimeters longer from each side of the table.
The carpet for the drawing-room should be chosen very carefully, because other than covering the desired space, one part of the rug should go under the legs of the sofa and the furniture. We also recommend that to show their best advantage, the area opposite the sofa and the furniture should never be covered with two rugs.
For the bedroom, instead of a big carpet, it is best to put small rugs, preferably in light colors.
It is very important to select the carpets with floral designs for the rooms with classic furniture, whereas, for places with modern and rustic furniture, it is best to choose stylized or geometrical designed carpets.
For the drawing-room, carpets with a central medallion are preferable such that the beauty and fineness of the medallion are shown off.
For the dining room, library halls and corridors, carpets with all-over or mosaic design should be chosen.
For the bedroom, plain or floral design carpets are recommended as these can be in perfect harmony with the furniture.
